Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Andalusia regional government in Spain, highlighting its commitment to sustainable port operations and ambitious expansion plans.
The visit focused on JNPA’s green port initiatives, including advanced carbon reduction technologies, renewable energy integration, and efficient waste management systems that position it as a leader in eco-friendly maritime infrastructure in India.
JNPA officials presented the Vadhvan Port vision, a major greenfield project set to become one of India’s largest ports upon completion, with capacity for 23 million TEUs annually and emphasis on next-generation automation and sustainability.
This engagement underscores growing India-Spain maritime ties, potentially opening doors for technology exchanges and investments in green shipping corridors.
Discussions also covered Andalusia’s expertise in port digitalization and logistics, aligning with JNPA’s goals under India’s Sagarmala program for world-class port development.
