In a first-of-its-kind initiative for India’s maritime sector, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vadhvan Port Private Ltd. (VPPL) and TUTR Hyperloop Pvt. Ltd. to explore the use of Hyperloop technology for high-speed cargo movement.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, with JNPA and VPPL Chairperson Unmesh Sharad Wagh and senior officials in attendance.
The collaboration is aimed at revolutionizing port-led logistics by drastically cutting cargo transit times, improving turnaround efficiency, and reducing emissions. Hyperloop-based cargo movement is seen as a futuristic model that could position India as a leader in smart, sustainable logistics. The project has the potential to reshape supply chains—from essential commodities to global exports—by making Indian trade greener and more competitive on the world stage.
