The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has developed a Centralized Parking Plaza (CPP) at Nhava Sheva to organise the movement of factory-stuffed export container trucks awaiting entry into the port.

Located across 45 hectares, the facility can accommodate up to 2,832 tractor-trailers simultaneously. It has been established as a dedicated parking and holding area for trucks carrying factory-stuffed export containers.

The Centralized Parking Plaza brings vehicles waiting for port entry together at one designated location instead of allowing trucks to queue at multiple points around the port area. The arrangement is intended to improve the management of truck movements and reduce traffic congestion around the port.

By consolidating truck parking and waiting operations, the facility is expected to support smoother traffic movement, reduce waiting-related congestion and improve truck turnaround times. It also forms part of JNPA’s efforts to streamline landside logistics and port-entry operations.

What is JNPA’s Centralized Parking Plaza?

JNPA’s Centralized Parking Plaza is a 45-hectare truck parking facility at Nhava Sheva designed specifically for factory-stuffed export container trucks. The CPP can accommodate 2,832 tractor-trailers at a time and provides a centralised location for vehicles waiting to enter the port.

How will the facility improve port operations?

The centralised parking arrangement is designed to reduce truck queues at multiple locations, manage vehicle movements more systematically, ease congestion and support faster turnaround of export container trucks.
