Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) handled 92.12 million tonnes (MMT) of total cargo in FY 2024-25, up 7.34% from 85.82 MMT in FY 2023-24, with containerized cargo dominating at 83.97 MMT (91.16% share).
Container traffic surged 13.55% to 7.30 million TEUs from 6.43 million TEUs, comprising 53.93% of India’s major ports’ total 13.541 million TEUs; BMCT led with 2.27 million TEUs (31.09%), followed by GTI (28.47%).
Bulk cargo rose 5.92% to 8.15 MMT, including cement/dry bulk at 1.80 MMT (+13.37%) and liquid bulk at 5.85 MMT; JNPA managed 3,920 vessels (+12%) with average turnaround time steady at 1.83 days and pre-berth wait down to 0.23 days.
Operational highlights include 1.08 MMT transshipment (+147%), 1.08 million TEUs via ICD rail (+2.36% over 6,798 rakes), and berth occupancy up to 65.05%; JNPA’s efficiency supports western India’s trade gateway role.
