An agreement was signed on October 17 between SWR and JSW for the operation of seven BOBSNS (Hopper wagon), a special type of wagon with side discharge arrangement for unloading/loading iron ore from the mines at Mineral Enterprises Ltd Siding, Sasalu & Swamihalli to the steel plant of JSW at Toranagallu.

“This marks the first agreement of its kind in SWR. The rake is manufactured by Titagarh Rail System Limited, Kolkata, and the first rake is expected to be operational from April 2024,” as mentioned in the statement.

“JSW is investing Rs 29.57 crore per rake, with a 10 percent rebate granted to the customer on base freight for every booking. The introduction of BOBSNS (Hopper wagon) will simplify the unloading process through wagon tippler or manual methods,” it said.
