JSW Infrastructure announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, JSW Port Logistics Private Limited, received a Letter of Intent (LoI) to set up the Ballari region’s first Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Village Kudathini, Ballari District, Karnataka.
The LoI was issued by the Inter-Ministerial Committee of the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs). The facility will be developed on an 86-acre brownfield rail siding acquired by the company.
Under the terms of the LoI, the facility must be made fully operational for import and export (EXIM) cargo within one year from the date of issuance.
This will be the first custom-notified Inland Container Depot in the Ballari region, providing port-like container handling and rail freight terminal (RFT) facilities directly to local industries, lowering logistics costs, and reducing reliance on road transit to distant ports.
