Kalmar has finished repairing a ship-to-shore (STS) crane leg at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority’s (JNPA) Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) in Mumbai, India. The repairs were completed in January 2025, and the order was noted in Kalmar’s Q2 2024 intake. As part of its modernization services, Kalmar was hired to fix the leg of an STS crane at NSFT. About half of the containerized cargo handled by India’s major ports is handled by JNPA, a government-run port.

Under a 30-year container-handling license, NSFT is run by a joint venture between JM Baxi and CMA. Reusing and renovating existing equipment is a sustainable decision, and because of its vital role, it is imperative that it be restored to complete, safe operating condition. This project has illustrated the value of unambiguous communication, followed the law, and stayed customer-focused to achieve a good result, according to Kalmar. Kalmar declared in April that it would move its Genuine Parts warehouse from Ottawa, Kansas, to Greenwood, Indiana, and outsource it.
