Kamarajar Port is moving ahead with a major infrastructure push, with 2027 identified as the target year for development of its second container terminal. The project is expected to boost port capacity and strengthen container-handling operations on India’s east coast.
The plan follows earlier interest shown by the port in inviting bids and advancing the terminal project through formal consultation and pre-application steps. Industry updates indicate the new terminal is being designed for a capacity of around 2 million TEUs, making it a significant expansion for the port’s logistics ecosystem.
