Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) marked a new operational milestone on 8 October 2025, successfully handling its longest-ever Over-Dimensional Cargo (ODC) at the General Cargo Berth (GCB). The breakbulk consignment—a heat boiler measuring 90 feet in length and weighing 280.02 tonnes—arrived from Constanta, Romania, destined for L&T Energy Hydrocarbon, Kattupalli.

The Marine Department oversaw the complex unloading process, adhering to strict safety protocols and deploying stabilizer pontoons to ensure vessel stability during discharge. The Traffic Division coordinated the smooth evacuation of the cargo using an 18-axle-long trailer, following route clearance along internal port roads.

KPL’s Managing Director, Smt. J.P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, praised the collaborative effort behind the achievement, acknowledging NTC Logistics (Customs House Agent), Sai Shipping (Shipping Agent), and Success Shipping (Stevedore) for their precise execution and teamwork.

With this record-setting operation, Kamarajar Port has reinforced its growing reputation as a capable and reliable hub for complex projects and heavy-lift cargo handling, underscoring its commitment to operational excellence, safety, and efficiency.
