Kerala will host the first-ever Kerala-EU Blue Economy Conclave on September 18–19, in partnership with the European Union and the Government of India. The event marks a major step in EU–India cooperation on sustainable ocean investments, climate action, and innovation.

A high-level European delegation led by EU Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Hervé Delphin, along with ambassadors and senior officials from 17 EU member states, will take part in the conclave.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event, which will be presided over by Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian. Ahead of the conclave, Vijayan said Kerala has always turned to the oceans not just for sustenance, but also for “innovation, resilience, and growth.” He described the gathering as an opportunity to forge a global alliance for a sustainable and equitable blue economy, positioning Kerala as a bridge between India and Europe.

Cherian added that the initiative highlights Kerala’s commitment to sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, and marine stewardship. “By joining hands with the EU and the Government of India, we aim to create opportunities for our coastal communities while ensuring the long-term health of our marine ecosystems,” he said.
