Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has extended its Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) service to private car owners with the launch of a new route connecting Kolad in Maharashtra and Verna in Goa.

The service begins on August 23 from Kolad and on August 24 from Verna, operating on alternate days in each direction until September 11. Trains will depart at 5:00 pm and arrive at 5:00 am the next day, with passengers required to report by 2:00 pm for loading and boarding procedures.

Each specially designed rake can carry up to 40 cars, with two cars loaded per wagon across 20 wagons. The freight charge is ₹7,875 (inclusive of GST) per car, with a one-time registration fee of ₹4,000 payable at the time of booking.

Passengers may also travel with their vehicles, with up to three persons per car permitted. Travel options include 3AC coaches at ₹935 per passenger or second seating at ₹190 per passenger.

KRCL said the initiative offers private car owners a time-saving, hassle-free alternative to road travel along the busy Konkan route, while further strengthening the utility of its Ro-Ro services.
