The surge of Covid cases in India has triggered a positive response by companies in the logistics, shipping and ports sector. Dubai-based Tristar Group has donated 150 sets of oxygen concentrators to St. Martha’s Hospital in Bengaluru, to support the state’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each unit donated is a compact oxygen machine that can provide respiratory therapy and is considered ideal to provide some relief in India’s crowded hospitals and healthcare centres. Eugene Mayne, Group CEO of Tristar said: “It’s a difficult time for us to see our countrymen and women battling against all odds to save lives and we hope that this small donation will provide much needed recourse to hundreds of people who are in need of oxygen to breathe which is a universal right for every human being. We are a business for purpose and saving lives is an integral part of our corporate strategy.”

In another notable philanthropic gesture India’s J M Baxi group has purchased 1100 oxygen cylinders from Singapore. Of these 600 are for Delhi, 250 for Andhra Pradesh and 250 for Maharashtra and together total 7200 m3 of oxygen carrying capacity. The cylinders are being transported to India by the Indian Navy and Airforce.
