India’s logistics and warehousing industry is scaling up to handle a sharp spike in e-commerce activity during the festive season, with sales expected to rise 25% over last year and warehousing demand projected to jump 40%.

According to experts, the e-commerce players are creating over 360,000 seasonal jobs in supply chain operations, with a single leading platform accounting for nearly two-thirds of these roles. India’s warehousing stock has now crossed 500 million sq ft, with more than 640 new delivery hubs being added in tier-II and tier-III cities.

Industry leaders highlight that festive logistics is shifting from one-time stocking to high-frequency, seamless deliveries across city nodes. Welspun One is expanding capacity in consumption hubs using a data-led, flexible warehousing approach, while TVS ILP is offering scalable Grade-A parks designed for peak season expansions with added power loads for conveyors, forklifts, and trailers.

Mahindra Logistics Ltd is ramping up operations with 0.8 million sq ft of temporary warehousing, 50 new delivery stations, reach to 500 additional pin codes, and 10,000 extra workers.

Early signs of festive momentum are already visible—Unicommerce, an e-commerce enablement SaaS firm, reported a 24% rise in order volumes and a 27% increase in gross merchandise value during pre-Rakshabandhan sales compared with 2024.

With robust consumer demand, expanding infrastructure, and tech-driven supply chains, the logistics sector is preparing for one of its busiest festive seasons on record.
