Lufthansa Cargo has unveiled a strategic collaboration with IndiGo CarGo to bolster its transpacific cargo operations between Asia and the U.S. As part of this new arrangement, which commenced last weekend, IndiGo CarGo will deploy a dedicated A321 freighter departing from Dhaka, with stops in Kolkata en route to Ho Chi Minh City. From there, shipments destined for the United States will transfer to Lufthansa Cargo’s long-haul freighter service to Los Angeles. This multi-leg route enhances regional connectivity and streamlines the flow of South Asian exports into the U.S. West Coast.
Customers can now book the complete cargo journey from Dhaka to Los Angeles directly through IndiGo CarGo, while Lufthansa Cargo continues to offer dedicated booking access for its Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles leg. Lufthansa Cargo operates a fleet of 16 freighters, including 12 Boeing 777s and four Airbus A321s. Expanding its global footprint, the carrier has launched a weekly Airbus A321 freighter service between Frankfurt and Beirut—marking the aircraft’s debut on this route. Additionally, Lufthansa Cargo has commenced operations from its new European hub in Rome, as part of a strategic alliance with ITA Airways, strengthening its continental network and connectivity.
IndiGo CarGo currently operates three Airbus A321-200 converted freighters, with a fourth unit joining the fleet soon. The airline’s main fleet exceeds 400 aircraft, predominantly made up of Airbus A320 family jets. Enhancing its long-haul capabilities, IndiGo is utilizing a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner—wet-leased from Norse Atlantic Airways—as part of a six-aircraft arrangement. This widebody jet has significantly increased IndiGo’s cargo capacity, particularly for bellyhold freight.
Expanding its international footprint, IndiGo has recently launched nonstop flights from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam, operating three times a week. Looking ahead, the airline is preparing to welcome 60 Airbus A350-900s from 2027, reinforcing its long-haul ambitions. As part of its growth strategy into Europe, routes to Copenhagen and London are also set to debut by mid-October.
