A.P. Moller–Maersk and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the decarbonization of global supply chains and strengthen CATL’s international logistics network.
The new agreement builds on a five-year collaboration between the two companies across shipping, intermodal transport, and end-to-end logistics solutions. Under the MoU, Maersk will serve as CATL’s preferred global logistics partner, providing integrated services such as ocean and air freight, project logistics, and warehousing.
Together, Maersk and CATL will develop scalable models to enhance supply chain resilience in a fast-changing global environment. Customized logistics solutions will be designed to meet the needs of diverse markets while supporting CATL’s global expansion.
The partnership also focuses on accelerating the electrification of key logistics nodes by leveraging CATL’s advanced battery technologies. This includes exploring clean energy applications in container shipping, ports, warehousing, and land transport. CATL will, in turn, become Maersk’s preferred battery technology partner, supporting the company’s broader decarbonization roadmap through innovations in electrical system design, energy management, and end-of-life battery recycling.
CATL, a global leader in new energy technology, aims to become a zero-carbon enterprise with a focus on transport electrification, industrial decarbonization, and zero-emission power systems. The company targets carbon neutrality in its core operations by 2025 and across its entire supply chain by 2035.
