The Maharashtra government has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth ₹4,080 crore with multiple companies in the telecom and artificial intelligence sectors, the state announced on Thursday. The agreements are expected to create significant manufacturing capacity and boost the state’s position as a hub for 5G and AI-based networking technologies.
The key investment comes from a company planning to invest ₹1,500 crore to manufacture 5G equipment and AI-based networking switchgear, marking a major step in India’s domestic production of advanced telecom infrastructure. The project is expected to support the government’s push for self-reliance in critical technology and create employment opportunities in the electronics and telecom manufacturing sectors.
State officials highlighted that the MoUs align with Maharashtra’s industrial development strategy and the broader national agenda of strengthening domestic manufacturing in high-tech domains. The investments are anticipated to enhance the state’s contribution to India’s telecom exports and AI ecosystem while attracting further ancillary industries to the region.
