As per official data, the country’s Major Ports handled 616.61 million tonnes of cargo during the 11-month period April-February 2017-18, up 4.97 per cent compared to the 587.41 million tonnes handled during the corresponding 11-month period of the last fiscal.
Two of the key drivers of this increase were containers and POL, which grew by more than 8.37 per cent and by about 8.13 per cent, respectively.
