Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and PSA Singapore have formed a strategic joint venture to establish a dedicated Ro-Ro terminal in Singapore, strengthening the city-state’s position as Southeast Asia’s leading automotive transhipment hub. Subject to regulatory approvals, the new terminal is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2026 and will support growing global automobile logistics flows through Singapore.
Singapore already serves as a key gateway linking Asia with major global car markets, offering extensive regional connections and value-added services for vehicles moving from production centres to end markets. The JV will secure long-term terminal capacity for MOL’s expanding Ro-Ro services, while enhancing service reliability and operational efficiency for OEMs and logistics providers using Singapore as a consolidation and redistribution hub.
Under the partnership, MOL will harness its extensive global automobile transport network, and PSA will bring its expertise in terminal management and port-based logistics solutions to jointly operate the new facility. Both partners also plan to deepen collaboration in three core areas—operational optimisation, digital innovation and sustainability leadership—to build a more efficient, tech-enabled and lower-carbon automotive supply chain.
The initiative aligns with PSA’s vision of an integrated, synchronised network of ports and logistics nodes and with MOL’s “BLUE ACTION 2035” management plan, which targets stronger market positioning and sustainable growth beyond traditional shipping. By combining scale, digital tools and green initiatives, the companies aim to deliver higher-quality, more resilient automotive transport services to global customers via Singapore.
