Mongla Port, Bangladesh’s second-largest seaport, has recorded steady growth in container handling during the first two months of the current fiscal year (FY), reflecting the country’s rising economic activity. A business-friendly environment and improved facilities are drawing increasing interest from both importers and exporters.

To ensure seamless services, multiple capacity-enhancement projects are underway. According to the Public Relations and Traffic Department of the Mongla Port Authority, the port handled 21,456 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers in FY 2024–25. In just July and August, container handling has already reached 6,769 TEUs, driven largely by higher import volumes amid strong economic momentum.
