Group Delta has set a new benchmark in bulk cargo handling at Mormugao Port, with its vessel M/V PHILIPPOS loading 37,405 metric tonnes of Non-Alloy Pig Iron in a continuous 24-hour period.

The vessel, berthed at DPMTPL Berth No. 11, arrived at the terminal on August 25 and is scheduled to load a total of 52,040 MT of Non-Alloy Pig Iron for JSW.

The shipment carries added significance as it marks the first export movement of Non-Alloy Pig Iron from Goa Port to a US port, according to Group Delta. The development shows Mormugao Port’s growing capability to handle large-scale bulk cargo for international markets.

Group Delta said the record performance was achieved through meticulous planning, efficient equipment deployment, coordinated cargo handling and round-the-clock efforts by its terminal and office teams. The operation was led by Raghoba Kotkar, Vice President, Group Delta, with support from Benedicto, General Manager, Delta Ports, and Sarvesh Morajkar, Operations Manager, Delta Infralogistics, along with the operations, documentation, equipment, safety and support teams.

The company said the achievement reflects its focus on productivity, operational efficiency, safety and customer service, while demonstrating its ability to execute high-volume bulk cargo movements within tight operational timelines. Group Delta also placed on record its appreciation for the Mormugao Port Authority and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation in facilitating the operation.

The company said the milestone further strengthens Goa’s position as a reliable gateway for international cargo and reinforces Mormugao Port’s role in supporting the movement of bulk commodities to global markets.
