The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has solidified its position as India’s preferred gateway for perishable goods. This mango season, CSMIA was instrumental in introducing the world to India’s highly valued mangoes. The airport effectively handled 3,624 metric tons (MT) of mango exports in April and May 2025 alone, a noteworthy 9% increase over the previous year and a further indication of its growing significance in international trade. In order to meet demand worldwide, CSMIA, India’s leading air cargo hub for perishables, has made it easier to export some of the country’s best mango kinds, such as Alphonso, Chausa, Kesar, Badami, and Neelam.

London led as the top destination, followed by Toronto and New York, where Indian mangoes continue to enjoy a premium position and dedicated consumer base. To uphold the delicate nature of mango shipments, CSMIA offers world-class infrastructure tailored specifically for perishable cargo. Its state-of-the-art Air Cargo facility sets a benchmark with cutting-edge technology designed to maintain the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

The heart of this operation is the Agro Excellence Centre, a 2,000 square meter temperature-controlled zone where every critical process from acceptance and screening to palletisation is conducted in a meticulously maintained environment. Temperature within the facility is consistently regulated between 15°C and 25°C to preserve freshness and prevent spoilage. Shipments are handled with utmost care to minimise exposure to heat and maintain optimal humidity levels. Palletisation is done strategically to ensure proper air circulation, further enhancing the longevity and quality of the fruit.

Adding to its technological edge, CSMIA offers real-time shipment tracking through the mobile application ‘Turant’, providing exporters and stakeholders with end-to-end visibility and control. Every step, from offloading to customs clearance and final pallet release—is synchronised to ensure that the ready to be uplifted pallets are released only at the time-of-flight departure.

This seamless orchestration reflects CSMIA’s operational excellence. The growth in export of Indian mangoes this season is a testament to the nation’s agricultural excellence, as global demand for regional varieties helps benefit farmers across India. With every flight carrying the king of fruits to global tables, CSMIA continues to play a vital role in supporting India’s position as a global leader in perishables exports.
