Navalt, a Kochi-based solar-electric boat manufacturer, has shipped its first vessel to North America, marking a major milestone for India’s solar-electric boat industry and the company’s global expansion. The vessel is a 10-metre catamaran Limo solar-electric leisure boat, destined for Halifax, Canada, where it will join Halifax Harbour Tours.

This delivery is Navalt’s first to North America, its first export as a fully engineered knock‑down kit, and its first deployment of a battery system configured for cold‑climate operation. The boat was transported across 12,703 kilometres (7,893 mi) from Kerala as a knock‑down kit, packed flat into five 40‑foot container equivalents (FEU), to enable assembly at the destination.

The shipment included two hulls transported separately, deck sections packed individually, a superstructure divided into three parts, and a separate container carrying the battery system and outfitting components. Assembly activities in Halifax involve joining the hulls, reassembling the deck and superstructure, and integrating the battery and outfitting systems; the vessel is expected to be launched in July 2026.

Navalt is a clean mobility startup focused on electrifying marine transport with solar‑electric vessels such as its ZALE and LIMO models. This Canada delivery underlines growing international interest in sustainable, solar‑electric leisure and tour boats and highlights India’s emerging role in solar‑electric vessel manufacturing and export.
