Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to begin international passenger flights and cargo freighter operations from July 15, marking a major milestone in its phased rollout. The launch remains subject to final regulatory approvals, but airport officials say the first phase is being prepared for both short-haul international flights and dedicated cargo services.

According to NMIA Chairman Captain BVJK Sharma, freighter operations are expected to ramp up to nearly 18 weekly flights, while international passenger services are also likely to start on the same date. Initial international routes are expected to focus on the Gulf region, which is likely to support strong demand from both business and leisure travellers.

Customs authorities have already inspected the airport’s readiness, and the final compliance steps are being completed before a trade notice is issued in early July. Once operational, NMIA is expected to ease congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport while strengthening Western India’s air cargo logistics network.

The airport’s cargo rollout is especially significant for exporters, freight forwarders and integrators looking for additional capacity in the Mumbai region. With international flights, freighter services and future expansion plans all moving forward, Navi Mumbai International Airport is positioning itself as a new aviation and logistics hub for Maharashtra and the broader western corridor.
