Neill & Brown has unveiled a new European rail freight service connecting the UK and Italy, in partnership with Italian logistics provider Sogedim. The companies have invested significantly in Huckepack trailers to enable seamless intermodal transport across the two countries.

The service is designed to accommodate a wide range of goods and complements Neill & Brown’s existing European road and sea operations. It also provides customers with a lower-carbon transport alternative along one of Europe’s busiest freight corridors.

To support the new service, manufacturers have delivered six specialized reinforced trailers to Neill & Brown. These trailers are built for both rail and road transport and will carry customers’ goods destined for Italy. The process involves Neill & Brown trucks transporting the trailers from its Hessle headquarters by road, followed by ferry transfer from Hull, and finally, cranes loading them onto freight trains at Zeebrugge.

In related news, South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) recently advanced two major infrastructure projects at the Port of Charleston to increase rail capacity and expand operations at the Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal.
