A new chapter has commenced at the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) with Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, assuming charge as its Chairperson. Upon his arrival, Singh was accorded a warm and cordial welcome by port officials, representatives of trade unions, port users and other key stakeholders, underscoring the collective optimism surrounding his leadership.
The reception reflected a strong spirit of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing the port’s operational excellence, growth trajectory and sustainable development goals. Stakeholders expressed confidence that Singh’s extensive experience in railway systems and infrastructure management will bring renewed focus on efficiency, modernisation and stakeholder engagement at the port.
As Chairman, Singh is expected to prioritise capacity enhancement, improved logistics integration and environmentally responsible practices, while strengthening the port’s role as a critical maritime gateway on India’s west coast. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the port looks to expand cargo volumes, upgrade infrastructure and support regional economic development through enhanced maritime and logistics services.
