The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has entered the Guinness World Records by accomplishing four record-breaking milestones on the under-construction Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G), marking a major achievement in highway construction and project execution.

According to NHAI, the first two records were set on January 6 near Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. One record was established for the longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete, covering 28.89 lane-kilometers—equivalent to a three-lane-wide stretch of 9.63 km — completed within a span of 24 hours. The second record recognised the continuous laying of the highest quantity of bituminous concrete in a single day, totalling 10,655 metric tonnes.

NHAI said these achievements were the first of their kind globally on a six-lane national highway project along the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor.

Building on this performance, two more Guinness World Records were created on January 11. These included the continuous paving of 57,500 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete in 24 hours, as well as the longest continuous paving operation covering 156 lane-kilometers—a three-lane-wide stretch of 52 km. This surpassed the earlier world record of 84.4 lane-kilometres, which involved a two-lane-wide section of 42.2 km.

The record-setting works were carried out across Package-2 and Package-3 of the economic corridor, highlighting the scale and efficiency of construction operations on the project.

The 343-km-long, access-controlled Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor is being developed as a six-lane highway designed for safe, high-speed and seamless travel. The corridor will feature 17 interchanges, 10 wayside amenities and a 5.3-km-long tunnel, with nearly 21 km of the alignment passing through forest terrain, combining infrastructure development with environmental sensitivity.
