Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal (NSDT) is proud to announce the successful execution of its first-ever tandem crane operation, marking a significant milestone in its operational journey. This landmark achievement involved the coordinated use of two mobile harbor cranes (MHCs) to discharge a series of heavy-lift packages with precision and efficiency.

The breakthrough operation was made possible thanks to the trust and confidence shown by one of India’s largest steel manufacturers, JSW Steel Limited, who chose Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal as the destination for their critical import consignment. The cargo machinery components for the expansion of JSW Steel’s Dolvi plant included 22 heavy packages, each weighing between 66 and 86 metric tons.

“We are grateful to JSW Steel for their confidence in our capabilities,” said Capt. Raja Mitra from Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal. “This collaboration highlights the terminal’s ability to execute high-precision, complex cargo operations with professionalism and care.”

Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal also extended its appreciation to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and the JNPA Marine Department for their continued support. Their coordination enabled the smooth berthing of the vessel, which arrived with maximum permissible draft and full load displacement, ensuring timely and secure cargo handling.

This successful operation not only showcases the terminal’s growing infrastructure and technical expertise but also strengthens its reputation as a reliable destination for heavy-lift and project cargo. The terminal looks forward to continuing its collaboration with JSW Steel, including the handling of their finished steel export volumes in the near future.
