Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled ambitious plans to transform Paradip into a major green hydrogen and tourism hub, announcing the development of a cruise terminal and a new airport in the port city.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Kalinga Bali Yatra in Paradip, an event celebrating Odisha’s rich maritime legacy, Majhi described Paradip as the “gateway of development in eastern India” and a cornerstone of the state’s economic future.

“Paradip is not just a port—it is the threshold of Odisha’s prosperity,” the Chief Minister declared, emphasizing the port’s role in driving industrial growth, trade, and employment in the region.

The state government has earmarked ₹500 crore for the construction of the cruise terminal on the Mangala River, aimed at positioning Paradip as a key coastal tourism destination. The terminal will cater to both domestic and international cruise liners, boosting tourism, hospitality, and local livelihoods.

In addition, Majhi announced plans for a greenfield airport in Paradip to improve air connectivity, complementing the city’s existing port and road infrastructure. The new airport is expected to facilitate business travel and attract investment in industries linked to logistics, energy, and tourism.

Reaffirming the government’s focus on sustainable industrialization, Majhi also reiterated Paradip’s emergence as Odisha’s future green hydrogen hub, leveraging its strategic location and existing energy infrastructure to support India’s clean energy transition.

Industry and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain echoed the CM’s vision, noting that the government is committed to transforming Paradip into a vibrant industrial and tourism corridor.

The new projects—cruise terminal, airport, and port-based industrial zones—are expected to stimulate regional development, create employment, and strengthen Paradip’s position as a key hub for trade, energy, and tourism on India’s eastern coast.
