[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Optimum Freight Solutions Pvt. Ltd (OFSPL) recently adroitly handled the movement of two fully built industrial units, Air Cooled Heat Exchangers from Coimbatore to Shuaiba Port in Kuwait. The job encompassed inland as well as sea transportation, with OFSPL overcoming the challenges in road transportation from Coimbatore to Chennai as the cargo was, in fact, ODC in terms of container shipment, with dimensions (L x W x H) of 11.20 x 6.85 x 3.05 metres.

OFSPL carried out the route survey from Coimbatore to Chennai Port CFS area, since the width of the cargo was almost 24 feet, encountering various toll gates having width restriction of 18 feet only. The Chennai Port gate (CCTL) too had a restriction of 18 feet. Hence, OFSPL decided to opt for Kattupalli Port to ship the cargo.

According to the company, shipping lines were also very apprehensive with regard to space allocation and handling at transhipment port given the extreme dimension of the cargo width-wise. However, the proper follow-up and concerted efforts of the NVOCC managed to win over the confidence of the shipping line, facilitating the allocation of space on the vessel MV AS Carinthia.

Further, there was a joint meeting with the operations team of Kattupalli Port, given that their ODC gate too had width clearance of 18 feet only. However, after due diligence from the operations team, the gate-in was allowed through the alternative service road, enabling the loading of the cargo on MV AS Carinthia on June 23, 2017 at Kattupalli Port.

This was cargo with the largest width handled in containers at Kattupalli Port, according to OFSPL.
