Orkim Berhad and its group of companies, a leading marine transportation company in Malaysia, recently took delivery of Orkim Citrine, a 49,999 deadweight tonnes vessel. This expands Orkim’s fleet to 18 vessels and increases the Group’s total deadweight capacity by approximately 30%. Orkim Citrine, designed to transport clean petroleum and chemical products, will commence its first charter voyage soon.
Orkim’s Chief Executive Officer, Captain Cheah Sin Bi said, “We are proud to add Orkim Citrine to our fleet as she strengthens our capacity to serve Malaysia’s growing marine transportation needs and reinforces our position as the market leader in the industry. Orkim Citrine, the second Malaysian flagged Middle Range tanker, is a testament to Orkim’s commitment in growing Malaysia’s available tonnage and contributing further to Malaysia’s energy security.”
“Fleet expansion is a priority, we are expecting to add two newly-built clean petroleum product (CPP) tankers to our fleet in 2027,” Captain Cheah added.
Orkim Citrine is a vessel with a deadweight capacity of 49,999 tonnes, making it the largest vessel in the Group’s fleet. With this addition, Orkim’s fleet now comprises 18 vessels, with a total load capacity of 239,186 deadweight tonnes (DWT). This comprised 14 CPP tankers with a combined capacity of 134,684 DWT, ranging between 7,000 DWT and 15,000 DWT each, two medium-range CPP tankers with a combined capacity of 98,004 DWT, and two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers with a combined capacity of 6,498 DWT. The vessels operate under a mix of charter agreements and transport cargo for energy companies within Malaysia, and across neighbouring Asian countries.
