In the current fiscal year, the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) handled a record 50 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo, according to PPA chairman P L Haranadh. This is the fastest 50 MMT handled in the port’s history, he continued, and it was accomplished in record time—in the first four months of the current fiscal year, four days ahead of schedule.
While container traffic witnessed an extraordinary 27.80% increase, demonstrating the port’s growing capabilities, coal cargo handling reached 22.06 MMT, representing a 0.53 percent growth over the previous fiscal period. An 8.41% increase in fertilizer raw materials and a 14.97% increase in crude oil handling contributed considerably to the total amount.
