Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh inspected potential sites for a cruise terminal, jetty, and ship repair facility on February 5, 2026. The visit advances Bihar’s inland waterways development under Union Budget 2026 allocations.

Key Sites Visited

At Pahalwan Ghat, 2 acres are allocated for a world-class cruise terminal. Officials assessed Gandhi Ghat for a jetty and the Ganga riverbank near Kurji for the ship repair hub, including dry dock construction.

Project Background

The ship repair center, costing Rs 4.15 crore on 5 acres near Kurji, supports National Waterway-1 vessels. PM Modi laid its foundation in September 2025; fencing and signage are complete, with work accelerating post-budget mention.

Regional Impact

Developments position Patna as a Ganga cruise hub, reducing reliance on Kolkata for repairs and boosting local employment and trade via eco-friendly inland transport.
