Pipavav launches first double-stack Python block rake to Dadri

Pipavav Port has achieved a first with the launch of the first Double Stack Python Block Rake from APM Terminals Pipavav to ICD Dadri, in collaboration with Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), flagged off on September 16, 2026. It marks the first time a Python rake has been planned and executed by any port for a single shipping line.

A major upgrade to the weekly import block train to Dadri, the Double Stack Python train enables up to 4X the volume in one go. The inaugural run carried 338 TEUs across approximately 1,200 km, bringing more just-in-time containers to arrive together, with improved reliability for customers and leaner rail operations.

This reflects the market’s trust in Pipavav’s tailored rail solutions, while creating headroom for more volumes to come, all the way to Dadri. Operationally, it marks a major feat, with the planning and execution of a first-of-its-kind movement at this scale requiring tight coordination across every partner. This stands as a clear example of DFC (Dedicated Freight Corridor) and Indian Railways infrastructure translated into high-capacity, efficient intermodal solutions for customers.
