The upcoming PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Tamil Nadu is expected to significantly accelerate export growth for the Tiruppur knitwear cluster by adding large-scale, integrated manufacturing capacity and modern infrastructure. Industry leaders say the park can help Tiruppur move towards its long-term vision of reaching around ₹1 lakh crore (about 10.5 billion dollars) in annual garment exports by 2030, even as the sector recovers from recent global demand and trade disruptions.
Planned as a fully integrated 1,000-plus-acre hub, the park will bring fibre-to-fashion capabilities in one location, with common facilities such as effluent treatment, logistics support, and plug-and-play units that can reduce costs and turnaround times for exporters. This model is part of a broader PM MITRA programme under which seven mega textile parks are being developed across India to attract large investments, create jobs, and position the country as a competitive global manufacturing and export base in textiles and apparel.
