Port of Montreal appoints senior advisor to grow India trade

The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) has appointed Prakash R. Tulsiani, Senior Commercial Advisor, as its representative in India.

Based in India, Tulsiani will focus on developing new business opportunities, building relationships with shipping and logistics stakeholders, and raising the profile of the Port of Montreal among Indian customers and trade partners.

The appointment comes as the port looks to strengthen and diversify its international trade links. An on-the-ground representative is expected to help shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers and exporters identify opportunities while supporting Canadian and Quebec-based businesses seeking access to global markets.

India is an established trading partner for the Port of Montreal and has become an increasingly important market. Major imports from India include food products, ceramics and plastics, while exports to the country include forest products and metals.

Tulsiani brings more than 45 years of experience working with multinational corporations and emerging companies, including 16 years in Southeast Asia. His background spans maritime transport, logistics, infrastructure, port and airport operations, as well as Asian markets and international supply chains.

His appointment expands the Montreal Port Authority’s network of commercial representatives and advisors across Europe, the US and Asia. The port said the expanded network is intended to support relationships with industry stakeholders, identify new commercial opportunities and contribute to the diversification of international trade through Montreal.
