Rhenus Group is set to further strengthen its airfreight network across Southeast Asia following the establishment of new gateways in Singapore and Bangkok this year. The global logistics provider said the two hubs, together with its existing facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, form a strategic triad designed to optimise cargo flows within the region and connect seamlessly with global trade routes.
The company described Singapore and Bangkok as pivotal trade nodes that complement Kuala Lumpur’s existing role in handling inbound cargo from Europe and outbound shipments to Oceania. The Singapore gateway now manages imports from Asia and Oceania while serving as an export hub to the Americas, and Bangkok is positioned as a key link for outbound freight to Europe and as a multimodal hub supporting intra-Asia connectivity through air and cross-border trucking services.
Rhenus said it intends to continue investing in Southeast Asia and the broader Asia-Pacific region, in line with its long-term strategy to enhance global logistics capabilities.
The new facilities provide end-to-end airfreight solutions including door-to-door delivery, customs clearance, cargo consolidation, and real-time digital tracking through smart logistics platforms. Each gateway incorporates green logistics measures such as electric vehicles, route optimisation, and low-emission transport options, with provisions for future expansion as demand grows.
Rhenus highlighted that increased manufacturing investment in Southeast Asia under the China+1 strategy is reshaping global trade flows. According to IATA, airfreight volumes on the Europe–Asia corridor rose 12.4% year-on-year as of September, underscoring the region’s growing significance as a hub for global cargo movement.
