US-based clean energy company Amogy has entered a multi-year strategic partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to manufacture its ammonia-to-power systems in South Korea. The collaboration aims to scale up production of Amogy’s innovative carbon-free power solutions for both maritime and land-based applications.

As part of the agreement, SHI will establish a dedicated manufacturing and testing facility to produce Amogy’s proprietary systems. The partnership will begin with the production of units for a pilot clean power project in Pohang, slated to commence in 2026.

This latest deal strengthens the existing relationship between the two companies—SHI became an investor in Amogy in December 2024. Amogy’s investor portfolio also includes major global names such as Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, SK Innovation, Aramco Ventures, Mitsubishi Corporation, BHP Ventures, and AP Ventures.

Beyond contract manufacturing, Amogy and SHI will jointly focus on advancing next-generation ammonia-fueled power technologies, targeting applications in shipping and distributed energy systems.

Amogy’s technology works by cracking ammonia into hydrogen on-site using a proprietary catalyst, which then powers fuel cells or engines to generate zero-carbon electricity. Its modular design supports scalable deployment across industrial and marine sectors.

To support production, SHI plans to establish testing and quality standards, implement process management systems, and expand its ammonia demonstration facility in Geoje by the end of 2025.
