Sarjak Container Lines (SCL) Pvt. Ltd., has formalised a partnership with Maldives-based Ocean Gate Logistics (OGL) to strengthen its on-ground service capabilities in the island nation, as infrastructure development enters a peak construction phase.

The partnership pairs SCL’s international expertise in specialised cargo movement with OGL’s local market knowledge, established presence in Malé and terminal relationships. It will support containerised cargo, project cargo, breakbulk, out-of-gauge shipments and general commercial cargo, along with local and last-mile logistics across the Maldives.

The Maldives continues to see sustained infrastructure growth, driven in part by India-backed projects including the 500 million dollar Greater Malé Connectivity Project, now past its construction midpoint and generating strong demand for movement of oversized and specialised cargo across an island geography. Bilateral ties between India and the Maldives are also strengthening, with free trade agreement talks currently underway.

Ashish Sheth, Chairman and Managing Director of Sarjak Container Lines, said the Maldives is an important market within the Indian Ocean region, and that moving complex cargo into an island setting demands strong destination coordination and local operational knowledge. He said the OGL partnership strengthens SCL’s on-ground capability to serve project cargo customers in the market.

Under the arrangement, OGL will manage inbound shipment coordination into Malé, support container repositioning and facilitate onward cargo movement to other islands via barge and local logistics services. SCL brings experience executing project cargo assignments across Asia, the Middle East and Africa for infrastructure, energy and industrial clients.

Mohamed Waheed, Managing Director of Ocean Gate Logistics, said the partnership brings SCL’s specialised shipping capabilities closer to Maldivian customers, backed by OGL’s local presence and operational relationships in Malé.
