Singapore-based SATS Ltd has said it is keen on building integrated multimodal logistics facilities to bolster India’s manufacturing sector, expressing strong optimism about the country’s economic growth prospects.
“We are bullish on India,” Bob Chi, CEO of SATS Ltd’s Gateway Services for Asia Pacific, said at a business forum, speaking after the conclusion of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable held this week in the city-state. Gateway Services for Asia Pacific is the ground handling and in-flight catering unit of SATS Ltd.
The group already has businesses in 14 Indian cities and has committed up to Rs 4,500 crore in investment at Noida International Airport as part of its broader push into India’s airport logistics infrastructure. The company is also planning multi-modal transhipment centres across major metros as part of its wider investment strategy in the country.
The move builds on SATS’s existing footprint in India through its joint venture AISATS with Air India, which was selected to design, build, finance and operate an integrated Multi-Modal Cargo Hub at Noida International Airport, spanning over 80 acres and designed to serve as a cargo gateway for the National Capital Region and Uttar Pradesh’s industrial clusters.
