South Central Railway (SCR) has rolled out India’s first Rail Parcel App, a digital platform enabling end-to-end parcel booking, real-time tracking, and doorstep pickup-delivery for freight customers across key cities.
Inaugurated by SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava at Rail Nilayam, the app integrates first-mile pickup, rail transport, and last-mile delivery into one interface, eliminating queues and paperwork while offering secure payments and LSP ratings for transparency.
The pilot covers seven locations—Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, and Chennai—targeting e-commerce, SMEs, and industries to boost rail’s parcel market share toward the 2030 goal of 3,000 MT cargo loading.
SCR also inked an MoU with IIM Bangalore for a freight logistics study to address infrastructure gaps and enhance rail competitiveness in multimodal chains from ports like Visakhapatnam and Chennai. This digital leap supports faster, greener inland logistics for maritime trade.
