South Central Railway’s (SCR) Hyderabad Division is preparing to roll out a new integrated digital parcel logistics system that aims to streamline how parcels move across first-mile, rail-led mid-mile, and last-mile legs. The app-based platform, currently under development, is positioned as a major step toward modernising parcel operations and improving customer experience.
The forthcoming Rail Parcel App will act as a comprehensive interface for users to book, track, and manage shipments. By bringing individuals, commercial customers, logistics partners, and industry players onto one digital network, the platform is expected to enable more coordinated and efficient movement of goods. SCR plans to launch the app initially as a pilot project in the Hyderabad Division, with wider deployment to follow.
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava described the initiative as a transformative shift for railway parcel services. He noted that the platform will allow logistics providers to integrate with the Railways for first- and last-mile transportation, building a collaborative model that benefits both private operators and the railway system.
As part of the launch process, SCR has issued a call for agencies and fleet operators interested in partnering for pickup and delivery operations, which will complement the Railways’ mid-mile capabilities. The zone said the partnership approach is central to ensuring a seamless, door-to-door logistics experience.
