Major container carriers, including CMA CGM, Cosco Shipping Lines (CoscoSL), and Regional Container Lines (RCL), are revising their Myanmar service networks with new loops and reduced frequencies to optimize Southeast Asian feeder operations.

These changes, reported by DynaLiners, involve merging services and adjusting port calls, impacting trade routes vital for India-Myanmar maritime links.

CMA CGM’s CNC Line is consolidating its IDLW, YCX, and YSX services—previously run with CoscoSL and RCL—into a new BY8 service linking Singapore, Yangon (Myanmar), Port Kelang (Malaysia), and Belawan (Indonesia).

  • BY8 Rotation: Singapore – Yangon – Singapore – Port Kelang – Belawan – Singapore.

Post-withdrawal from YSX, CoscoSL and RCL have dropped the Port Kelang–Yangon leg from their SYM1/RSY service, cutting frequency to one sailing every 10 days with two 1,200 TEU vessels on a Singapore-Yangon-Singapore loop.

CoscoSL separately upholds Port Kelang–Yangon coverage via a revamped standalone SYM3 service, using two 1,000 TEU vessels weekly: Singapore – Port Kelang – Yangon – Belawan – Singapore.

These adjustments reflect broader efforts to streamline capacity in Southeast Asia’s feeder networks, potentially affecting cargo flows from Indian ports like Kolkata and Chennai to Yangon amid fluctuating regional demand.
