SMP Kolkata posts 16% cargo growth in April–August FY25

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMP Kolkata) reported a 16.02% increase in cargo throughput during April–August 2025, handling 28.236 million metric tonnes (MMT) compared to 24.337 MMT in the same period last year.

The Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) contributed the bulk of volumes at 20.625 MMT, registering a 13.23% rise from 18.216 MMT a year earlier. The Kolkata Dock System (KDS) delivered stronger growth of 24.35%, handling 7.611 MMT against 6.121 MMT in the corresponding period last year.

“This achievement reflects the relentless commitment of our officers, employees, and stakeholders,” said Rathendra Raman, Chairman, SMP Kolkata. He added that the port remains focused on enhancing operational efficiency and infrastructure to further strengthen its role in supporting India’s trade and economic growth.
