Rajesh Kumar Sinha, IAS, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, visited the Directorate General of Shipping headquarters today to review progress on several critical initiatives shaping India’s maritime governance.
The review covered the ongoing consolidation and drafting of the Merchant Shipping Rules, India’s preparedness and strategy for improving its standing in the upcoming Paris MoU Grey List assessment, and measures to optimise training slot utilisation for maritime capacity building.
Sinha also examined budget expenditure planning for the third and fourth quarters of FY 2025–26, ensuring financial alignment with the Ministry’s forthcoming programmes.
The discussions offered strategic direction aimed at fast-tracking regulatory reforms, boosting operational efficiency, and strengthening capabilities across the maritime sector.
