SpeedX has expanded its US logistics footprint with the launch of a large-scale e-commerce and airfreight superhub near Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), strengthening its role in the country’s fast-growing parcel delivery market.
The new 200,000 sq ft operation—one of the company’s most advanced facilities to date—significantly boosts network capacity. It supports SpeedX’s current ability to move up to one million parcels daily across the US, a capability bolstered by last year’s acquisition of freight forwarder Accelerated Global Solutions (AGS).
At the center of the hub is a high-speed auto-sorting system equipped with extensive chute capacity. The system is designed to process 30,000 parcels per hour, scaling up to 500,000 shipments per day during peak periods. The building also includes expanded dock infrastructure and enlarged floor space, making it suitable for handling both parcel and freight volumes.
The Chicago superhub marks a significant milestone in SpeedX’s nationwide expansion, adding to the 50-plus facilities the company has opened over the past year.
The launch comes amid sustained momentum in US online retail. E-commerce sales have doubled over the past five years and are forecast to reach $1.3 trillion in 2025, with projections climbing to $1.84 trillion by 2029.
