Telangana Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi and sought Centre’s support for a series of industrial and logistics projects aimed at accelerating the state’s manufacturing growth. The discussion covered key proposals including a logistics hub at Zaheerabad, an aero-defence corridor, mega leather parks and new industrial parks under the Bhavya Scheme.
Sridhar Babu also urged the Centre to support a proposed Global Innovation and R&D Centre by Hyundai Group in Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City, where the company has announced an investment of ₹8,500 crore. He said the state government is preparing detailed project reports for 15 to 20 plug-and-play industrial parks under Bhavya Scheme Phase 1 and asked for approvals during the June-July 2026 application window.
The minister further sought approval for a Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Manoharabad in Medak district, being developed with an investment of ₹2,050 crore in partnership with the National Highways Logistics Management Limited. He also requested funding under the Trade Infrastructure for Exports Scheme for an irradiation facility coming up at Koheda in Rangareddy district.
In addition, Sridhar Babu raised the issue of palm oil imports, asking the Centre to restore the import duty on crude palm oil to 44 per cent in the interest of farmers. He also pressed for two Mega Leather Parks under the Mega Leather, Footwear and Accessories Cluster Development Scheme, and support for a National Design Centre in Hyderabad.
The meeting underscores Telangana’s push to build a stronger industrial ecosystem through logistics, exports, advanced manufacturing and sector-specific infrastructure. It also reflects the state government’s effort to align central assistance with its broader plan to position Hyderabad and surrounding districts as major investment destinations.
