Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to approve a 12-lane greenfield expressway connecting Bharat Future City in Hyderabad to Machilipatnam Port via Amaravati.
During his meeting in New Delhi with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday night, Reddy submitted a formal proposal, citing the assurance made under the AP Reorganization Act, 2014, for a direct road link between the capitals of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Highlighting Telangana’s lack of a seaport, the Chief Minister said the project would enable seamless cargo movement from Hyderabad to the coast. Of the proposed route, 118 km will fall within Telangana, while the remaining stretch will pass through Andhra Pradesh.
Gadkari assured that a central team would soon visit Hyderabad to study the feasibility of the Bharat Future City–Amaravati–Machilipatnam Port corridor. A review meeting with National Highways and NHAI officials has been scheduled in Hyderabad on September 22.
Reddy also briefed the minister on the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR), noting that land acquisition for the northern section was 90% complete. He sought financial support and cabinet approvals to expedite the project, and requested pending clearances for the southern section so that both works could proceed in parallel.
Additionally, the Chief Minister pressed for permission to construct a four-lane elevated corridor on the Mannanur–Srisailam Road, which traverses the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, to improve connectivity between Hyderabad and Srisailam.
