Tenders Invited for 173-Acre Multi-Modal Logistics Park in Thoothukudi

 SIPCOT has floated global tenders for developing a 173-acre multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) at Silapatharai in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu, to create an integrated freight hub near V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port.

The park will feature warehousing, cold chains, container yards, rail siding, and road connectivity under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, boosting cargo evacuation efficiency for VOC Port’s growing volumes in wind energy, agri-exports, and industrial goods.

This initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu’s logistics policy and PM Gati Shakti, aiming to reduce inland transport costs, attract investments, and generate jobs in the port-industrial corridor linking Tuticorin to Madurai and southern districts.​

Bids are open for consultancy, design, and development, positioning Thoothukudi as a southern logistics powerhouse amid VOC’s expansions like digital twin and green projects.
