According to CGTN Africa, the Nigeria-East/Southern Africa Air Cargo Corridor was established by the Nigerian government to increase export access to markets in South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda. The program, which is a component of the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), attempts to lower export prices and increase delivery effectiveness. It will run out of Lagos and Abuja. Nigerian exporters can drastically reduce their logistics expenses by taking advantage of the cargo corridor’s 50% to 75% discounted air freight rates.
Textiles, fashion items, cosmetics, and agro-processed goods were all included in the initial cargo. The government characterized the action in an official statement as an indication of its support for Nigerian companies, enabling them to export with reduced risk and quicker turnaround times. Authorities reaffirmed their determination to spearhead the push for greater economic integration throughout Africa and to fortify Nigeria’s position in the AfCFTA.
