Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has received the Letter of Award from Vadhvan Port Project Limited (VPPL) to construct a 10.14-km-long offshore breakwater at the upcoming greenfield Vadhvan Port in Dahanu, Maharashtra—valued at ₹5,301 crore (excluding GST), marking the company’s biggest marine infrastructure contract and a transformative milestone for India’s largest planned public port.
The EPC contract, awarded under Package 1A (Offshore Breakwater), will result in the world’s second-longest breakwater and the longest for any Indian port project upon completion. VPPL, the special-purpose vehicle majority owned by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), is implementing the ₹76,220 crore Vadhvan Port project, which is envisioned to handle 23.2 million TEUs when fully operational.
Afcons emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) with ₹5,301 crore, closely aligning with VPPL’s technical team estimate of ₹5,111 crore. The win underscores Afcons’ expertise as the marine infrastructure specialist and flagship engineering-and-construction company of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, and signals the start of construction on Vadhvan Port’s key main structures.
